The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and the Power Trading Corporation (PTC) of India Limited have formed a joint venture company Barak Power Private Limited (BPPL) to set up a 250MW thermal power plant at Silchar. However, the project has been delayed because BHEL is yet to get the in-principle clearance for transfer of land from Government of Assam. Techno-commercial aspects and viability of the proposed thermal project are currently under deliberations, said Minister of State for Power Bharatsinh Solanki in reply to a question by Kabindra Purkayastha.
