New wheat variety attracts thousands

Ludhiana, September 18 Farmers queue up at 3 am to get seeds of PBW-550 at PAU counters The sale of a new wheat variety seed, PBW 550, today brought thousands of farmers to Punjab Agricultural University. Be it Patiala, Abohar, Mansa, Muktsar or as near as Jagraon, farmers from all over queued up at university seed sale counters as early as 3 am. Kuljit Singh a farmer from Dilwan, Mansa district, was in the queue since three in the morning and managed to get two bags of seed at noon. Unlike him, Tehal Singh, a farmer from Patiala, was not so lucky. Waiting since 6 am, he could get only after 5 pm.
