New York set to toughen emission tests

Concerned about truck emissions that pollute the air more than its 10 million cars, New York State plans to require the 160,000 trucks and buses in the state to begin undergoing the emission tests that have long been required of automobiles. The requirement which is schdeuled to go into effect in June, is part of a bill to be signed into law by Gov. George E. Pataki.
