A recent survey by the Orissa Labour Department on child labour has been disputed by an NGO which claims the State Goverbment's estimate of the number of children working in hazardous units is flawed as the survey goes by the provisions of the Child Labour Protection Act 1986 while distinguishing between hazardous and non-hazardous units.The Labour Department claims it has identified child labourers with meticulous care and puts the figure for boys working the hazardous units at 10,294 and girls at 13,167.
