Dr. S N Prasad, senior scientist at the Hyderabad-based National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), has been selected for the joint award of the National Mineral Award - 2001 of the Union Ministry of Coal and Mines. The award is in recognition of his contribution in the areas of geophysics as applied to earth sciences. Dr. Prasad's work provide insights into the understanding of varied geophysical problems. He has also independently written a 2-D non-linear inversion code, according to a release from NGRI.
