The National Green Tribunal on Tuesday warned Uttar Pradesh of a heavy fine if the State government failed to issue a notification pertaining to the identification of a wetland in the Gorakhpur region. A Bench headed by judicial member Jawad Rahim rapped the State government for not replying to the show-cause notices issued by the tribunal. “We want the show-cause statement. Instead of providing us with that, you are showing us the minutes of some meeting. We will impose cost if you do not issue the notifications,” said the Bench.
