NH project hits law roadblock

Picture by Prashant Mitra Ranchi, Aug. 10: Land acquisition is delaying the much-awaited four-laning project of NH-33 between Ranchi and Hazaribagh, including a 4km bypass near Kujju, where a portion of the highway caved in yesterday because of a raging underground mine fire. The Union cabinet had given the go-ahead to the over Rs 600-crore project on July 30 but the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) could not sign a contract agreement or issue a letter of intent with/to the short-listed contractor
