The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is likely to do away with the restriction on number of contracts awarded to a company under a single package of highway projects. This move is expected to come in the wake of Ircon International and Soma Enterprises combine emerging lowest bidder for two projects offered under the first package of Pradhan Mantri Bharat Jodo Pariyojana (PMBJP). The Rs 40,000-crore PMBJP comprises upgradation of national highway stretches, which were not covered by the Golden Quadrilateral, north-south east-west corridor and port connectivity projects.
