The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notice to the Kerala government seeking a report within two weeks on alleged police atrocities on Adivasis in the state. The notice was issued to the state chief secretary and DGP following complaints that 16 Adivasis were killed in the confrontation with police at Muthanga on February 19 contrary to the state government's claim that only two persons were killed. Activist writer Arundhati Roy today met tribal leaders to express her support.
