Nightmare under bridge

Rain in the Capital has meant inconvenience more than relief for commuters, especially for those taking the road between ITO and Mathura Road under Tilak Bridge. Neglected for months, the stretch has become a deadly mix of waterlogging and sewage water filth. With a brief spell of rain recently, commuters were stranded during morning and evening rush hours as familiar waterlogging revisited the path under Tilak Bridge. For motorists and pedestrians alike, the stretch had become a trap as traffic refused to move. Those on foot were doubly worried as they were left navigating the jam while dodging sewage-filled holes and the inescapable stench that comes along with it. The problem is primarily due to a broken drainage pipe that has left a hole on the top. Pedestrians who want to cross the bridge must either risk jumping over the gap, or take the road under the bridge and risk filthy water being splashed on them by speeding vehicles. For pedestrians, its lose-lose all the way to ITO.
