The Uttarakhand Health Department has deployed the rapid action team in village Sultanpur and nearby areas of Haridwar district following nine more persons testing positive for dengue fever on Sunday. With this, the total number of dengue patients in the village rose to over 25, action team leader Gurnam Singh said.
Four persons had been referred to Dehra Dun while massive efforts had been initiated for fumigation in the region. The people have been advised to keep their surroundings clean and not allow water to stagnate in or around their homes and agricultural fields.
It may be mentioned that about 70 cases had been reported from different districts so far. The situation is well under control and it is the people themselves who could take preventive action and stay safe, Dr Singh said.
The department was also carrying out awareness and preventive drives in Dehra Dun, Udham Singh Nagar and terai areas of Naini Tal district, a senior official said.
