No entry for polluting vehicles into Karnataka, says HC

In a bid to reduce vehicular pollution, vehicles coming from other states which do not conform to the required standards of pollution control, will not be allowed to enter Karnataka by the transport department from January 1, 1999 as per a direction of the Karnataka High Court.Mr Justice M F Saldanha directed the department to take similar steps at the entry points of Bangalore City to save Bangaloreans from vehicular pollution.The judge who launded the efforts made by the department to reduce vehicular pollution in the State and particularly in Bangalore, gave eight directions to the department to comply with within a month.
