HOWRAGHAT, July 6: With the rest of the State the week-long Vanamohutsava organized by the Karbi Anglong Environment and Forest department is under way here. On the occasion, a function was held at Phulani where local MAC and EM for Environment and Forest Department, KAAC, Hemari Teron, local MLA and Asom parliamentary secretary, Bidyasing Engleng, KAAC EM for PHE, Art and Culture and Revenue department Sum Ronghang along with the all senior officials of the five Forest divisions took part. While addressing the public former KAAC CEM and present EM, Sum Ronghang highlighted on the present need of conservation and afforestation of plants in the district. Speaking on the present need of quality education, he said that the educational scenario of Phulani MAC constituency as well as in the district is lagging behind and is not satisfactory. "For bringing sociocultural and educational change in the society the guardians as well as the students should play a pro-active role,' Ronghang added. While pointing out on the implementation of new land policy he reiterated that 30 per cent of the act under the Assam Land Act has not been implemented yet and whatever process applied by the KAAC for implementing land policy was purely based on "Assam Land Act' but not "New Land Policy'.
