The Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, today categorically stated that her Government was committed to regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the Capital on the basis of the 1976-77 Indira Gandhi policy and no development or penal charges would be levied on the residents of such colonies for making them legal. Putting to rest all speculation in this respect, the Chief Minister told a delegation of party MLAs from Outer Delhi and East Delhi that the stand of the previous NDA Government on this issue had been rejected by her Government and party and they would only follow what had been provided in the party manifesto. Her Government, she said, would abide by the resolutions passed by the Delhi Assembly and also the promise made at the time of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. The Outer Delhi Member of Parliament, Sajjan Kumar and the East Delhi Member of Parliament, Sandeep Dikshit, led the delegation. The meeting was also attended by a large number of senior officials and the Urban Development Minister, A.K. Walia.
