Historical monuments will not be given out to the private sector for either promotion or preservation. Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan felt that monuments were the government's responsibility and should not be passed on to the private sector, ministry sources said. Jagmohan has even urged the state governments to pass on the monuments under them to the central government for restoration. Infact, not a single monument has been given out to the private sector after Jagmohan took charge of the tourism ministry.
