BHUBANESWAR: The surface water is going down with rising temperature and perhaps with an ever-increasing population. The depleting ground water table in many areas is found with a 12-25 feet fall in water level in wells.
Sample this: Many wells in Jagamohan Nagar where a water table of 25 feet was noticed in 1992 has come down to 12 feet and many have started drying up and as noticed by a local resident, a fall of 1-ft-a-year is the norm of the day.
