Highrises will no longer be allowed to mar the Mumbai city's heritage skyline. The Bombay high court directed the BMC not to flout development control rules, while sanctioning multi-storeyed buildings to replace old heritage structures or, in heritage precincts. The rule governing heritage precincts stipulates that buildings included in listed heritage precincts shall maintain the skyline (without any highrise development) as may be existing in the surrounding area, so as not to diminish or destroy the value and beauty of the precinct.
