No takers for IIM-As agriculture MBA course

Of 30 Seats Assigned To Course, Only 22 Were Filled In 2008-10 Batch Kumar Anand AHMEDABAD THIS might come as a surprise, but the agri-business management (PGP-ABM) course run by the country's premier Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has not found many takers. Of the total 30 seats that are assigned to the two-year management course, only 22 were filled in the 2008-10 batch. The students for the course are selected through the same admission procedure as followed at the flagship post graduate management programme (PGP). Candidates willing for admission to the programme are shortlisted from the common admission test (CAT). Every year, as many as 150 candidates are shortlisted for interview. However, only 22 were offered course this year. Last year, too, the situation was not much different as only 23 students took up the course. To popularise the course, the institute has now planned to reach out to country's top agricultural institutes
