Chief Minister S M Krishna today spiked rumours that the State had released water to Tamil Nadu from Kambini reservoir and categorically stated that water had never been released either from Kabini or any other reservoirs in the Cauvery basin to the neighbourning State. Expressing concern that water level in the reservoirs of Cauvery basin was very low due to paucity of rains, the chief minister said he was constantly monitoring rainfall situation in the State. He made it clear that Karnataka would not have any problems in releasing water to Tamil Nadu when the rainfall situation improves in the State.
