Noida highway a parking lot

Since its inauguration five years ago, the 23.5-km Greater Noida Expressway has claimed over 45 lives. In the same period, more than 60 people have been injured in mishaps. Alarmed by the rate of accidents, experts are now questioning the safety features of the expressway. The dividers are so low that cars roll onto other side of the road, almost colliding with other vehicles. Signages are almost non-existent. On the sidelanes, motorists drive the wrong way to save a kilometre or two. With no one to enforce traffic rules, the stretch plays host to rich kids from Delhi illegally racing their superbikes and sports cars and jostling for space with buffaloes which often stray on the road.
