When I first mooted the idea of an eco-friendly Ganeshutsav last year, not many supported it. In fact, this year there was a controversy over my statements appealing to Ganesh mandals to reduce the height of idols and install idols made of natural soil shadu instead of plaster of Paris. However, all that aside, I am happy to see such a strong, positive response from devotees, who chose to immerse idols in artificial lakes instead of the sea.
