Now cremation needs less wood

This initiative to save trees has resulted in the development of a crematorium than consumers 70 per cent less wood than the conventional method. Philanthropist Sanathbhai Chhaya's (74) efforts bore fruit on July 31, when an unidentified body was cremated in a unique bio-mass gasifier at Ambernath. The crematorium was developed by the Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) aided by the department of Non-Conventional Energy Source.
