Now, lakes drying up in Ajmer district

Ajmer: Several lakes in Ajmer district had received decent water during monsoon this year. However, these lakes are back to square one as most of them are drying up fast.
According to irrigation department, Beer lake, which had 11 feet water a few weeks ago, now has only 1.5 feet. Rajiyawas lake had more than 8 feet water, but now it is left with only 1.11 feet. Makrada lake had 6 feet water last week, but now it has only 1.9 feet. Baran (I &II) has only 1.8 feet of water. Narayan Sager received less water this time and the level went up to 4 feet which is reduced to 1.1 feet now, the department said.
It may be mentioned that out of 26 lakes of the district, 18 received water after about 10 years. However, many other dams are brimming with water. Foisagar has 17 feet water, the highest in the district.
Taj Sarover in Sarwar is having more than 13 feet of water and the nearby Udai Sagar in Badali is having water of more than 10 feet.
In Ajgara, the water went up to 9.3 feet, Lasadiya dam is having 3.40 metres, Nayar lake is having 6.9 feet and Madan Sarover is having 6 feet water. The Anasager sitauted in the heart of the city is having a gauge of 5.5 feet. For farmers, the monsoon brought smiles on their faces as the lakes which were dried up since last four to five years got water this time.
