Now, treatment plant to come up at Pushkar lake

The tackle the problem of water pollution, the Pushkar Lake will soon have a coir mesh treatment system. An alarming water loss is also being reported from the lake for which the administration will seek assistance of specialists from the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. At the meeting which took place on Monday as part of the National Lake Conservation Project, it was decided to seek assistance of specialists to clean the lake. District collector Vaibhav Galaria talked about the water treatment project of Anasager Lake and said a similar programme can be developed for Pushkar Lake. A wasteland will also be allotted where the garbage coming out from the treatment plant could be dumped. “We have requested people to not throw garbage in these lakes and alerted the officials to check the same,” said Galaria. The administration also said that UIT will solve the problem of silt coming in Pushkar Lake through water feeders. The administration also instructed the municipal body to construct urinals around the ghats of Pushkar Lake for the devotees to keep the lake clean.
