BISWANATH CHARIALI, Sept 16: The National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) was formally inaugurated in Biswanath Development Block under Biswanath Subdivision by the Biswanath SDO Vishal Solanki recently. The programme commenced with the planting of a sapling under social forestation scheme for the year 2008-09 at Farsiati Idgah Maidan at a function, chaired by Kumalia GP president Amizul Haque. An amount of Rs 5 lakh has been allotted for this scheme. Addressing the occasion, the SDO stated under NREGS people would be able to get job opportunities and this scheme would provide impetus for the development of the area. He informed in details about the salient features of the NREGS. He stressed on constituting of monitoring committees in every villages for the schemes.Also addressing the function, the i/c BDO, Tezraj Chettri stated about the schemes proposed under NREGS in Biswanath Development Block and he called upon the concerned panchayat office bearers to ensure that the schemes are properly implemented within the fixed time frame.
