Oceanic crater is asteroids impact site

An underwater crater off the coast of Australia may have been left by a catastrophic asteroid impact that triggered the greatest mass extinction the world has seen, scientists believe. New analysis of rock cores drilled from the Bedout High crater off the northwestern coast of Australia has indicated that it was probably gouged by an asteroid or comet that struck the Earth about 250 million years ago.
