One of every 10 tubewells is dead and dry

The Delhi Jal Board informed the High Court that 216 tubewells across the city were lying dead because of falling groundwater table and other factors. The Jal Board's chief engineer told a division bench comprising Chief Justice Arijit Passayat and Justice D K Jain that there are about 2,200 tubewells across the city out of which 216 have been abandoned.
