Bulletin board

http://environmentalresearchweb.org
The site under review has information on a range of environmental issues from waste management to global warming to renewable energy. Run by the Bristol-based Institute of Physics (IOP), UK, it combines news articles on current issues with opinion pieces, links with environmental journals, a comprehensive database of organisations in the field and an up-to-date events calendar.

Articles now on the site include details of a new Energy Biosciences Institute in the US funded by energy giant BP, how environmental researchers are using satellite mapping tools to help their work, why climate data derived from 6,500-year-old coral has serious implications for drought in western Indonesia, and a summary of the IPCC report.

The site also has links to new articles from the open access IOP journal Environmental Research Letters, launched earlier this year.Registration for membership is free and members will gain free access to premium content, receive a weekly newsletter and be able to update the site with their comments, details of their events and their company.

"The site will provide people with much more in-depth information on, for example, the science behind climate change and other environmental issues and enable them to learn more about what is being done to tackle these problems,' says the editor of the site, Liz Kalaugher.
