Project will disturb a part of the prime animal habitat Will the sylvan setting of Kuntala waterfall become Adilabad's Jaitapur? The growing opposition to a proposed private sector mini-hydel power plant at the spot reinforces this feeling. The 6 MW power project on this waterfall, a unique entity in the whole of the State, is feared to cost dearly in terms of environment. It will also disturb a part of the prime animal habitat besides harming centuries old customs of local tribes. Barring a nod from the Forest Department, the project has been given clearance in every other aspect by the government. The former also seems to be of the view that establishment of the power plant will totally affect the scenic beauty around the waterfall located in dense forest 12 km. from the NH 7 in Neredigonda mandal headquarters.
