The Assam Government is determined to evict all those who are occupying reserved forest areas illegally, said Forest Minister Pradyut Bordoloi in the Assam Assembly today. According to Bordoloi, different anti-social groups are working in an organized manner, encroaching upon forest lands and at the same time some landlords are instigating the general people of the villages to cut down trees and settle down in such reserve forests. Drawing attention of the Forest Minister during the Zero Hour, BJP MLA Sushil Dutta and Ranjit Dutta said that houses and schools of the people living in the Bihali Reserved Forest area were set ablaze by the forest workers during an eviction operation. There is no objection to the eviction process, but the humanitarian side should be kept in mind by the forest officials, Mr Dutta added.
