The BJP district unit president of Malkangiri has threatened to hold demonstrations and call for a district-wide bandh if the Orissa state government fails to act in checking illegal transport of kendu leaves. Mr. Somnath Madkamani, BJP district unit chief, along with seven zilla parishad members, alleged that the state administration had turned a blind eye to the illegal kendu leaf trade, resulting in huge losses to the state exchequer.
