With a view to stem the rising tide of tribal unrest, the Orissa Government is likely to step up the pace of its welfare programmes in the Kalahandi-Bolangir-Koraput (KBK) region. Complaints with regard to tardy implementation of anti-poverty schemes have been coming from the people of the area as well as their representatives who appear to have become suspicious of the Government's bona fides. Recently, there were media reports about Union Tribal Welfare Minister Juel Oram expressing displeasure over Central funds for welfare not being spent properly in Orissa.
