The Orissa High Court has given sanction to the controversial fishing jetty project near Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary. The project had attracted media attention in 1994 when wildlife activists and conservationists from different parts of the world demanded its scrapping.A Division Bench comprising Mr. Justice Arijit Pasayat and Mr. Justice P.C. Naik, while delivering a 43-page judgement on the environment of the sanctuary of the sanctuary, observed that while there can be no 'golden scale' evaluation of the problems, arrangements can be made in the interest of the people of the locality without affecting the environment.
