Orissa jibe stirs up state water project

A strongly-worded letter from the Orissa chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, to the governor, Syed Sibtey Razi, on inordinate delays plaguing the ambitious Subernarekha Multipurpose Project (SMP), despite the neighbouring state spending a whopping over Rs 545 crore over the last three decades, has activated the Jharkhand administration. The state development commissioner, S.K. Choudhary, has convened a meeting on it tomorrow, while officials of the state water resources department, the agency executing the project, was still struggling to find ways to complete at least the part of the project that would provide water for Orissa
