The Supreme Court asked the Orissa and Chhattisgarh governments to submit their responses, within two weeks, to the report of the Central Empowered Committee, on Polavaram project and said that the next hearing shall take place four weeks later. The Central Empowered Committee, set up by the Supreme Court, had submitted a 400-page report to the three-judge bench, hearing the case on Andhra Pradesh's Polavaram irrigation project on November 10. On Friday, the two states, opposing the construction of the project, pleaded that since the report was too voluminous they have not gone through it and are not in a position to state their respective responses.
