Orissa on Friday launched an Education Guarantee Scheme and Alternative Innovation Programme in 16 districts of the state to enable children below 14 years from poor families receive primary education. While an EGS centre can be set up in any village which did not have a primary school in the vicinity if it had 20-25 children, the AIP targeted to enroll primary school drop outs, those who had never been to school and children in difficult circumstances, official sources said.
