A major fire broke out in the Yamuna Pushta jhuggi cluster in Shakarpur area in Delhi. Several fire tenders had to be rushed to the spot and firemen were busy extinguishing the blaze till late in the night. Though senior officers did not give any estimates of casualties, unconfirmed reports said over 12 people were injured. Senior fire officials said the cause of fire was not clear. The blaze soon engulfed about 300-400 jhuggis. While residents were fighting the fire, around seven LPG cylinders exploded and they took cover on nearby Vikas Marg. traffic was diverted onto other roads.
