It was once a rich green forest. Now, it's denuded. This is the negative fall out of the Madhya Pradesh State Government's drive to redistribute the land to dalits. As many as 3,000 rich and strong teak trees standing over a 29.91 hectares of revenue land have been cut down by the villagers in Oontkheda under Berasia tehsil. The administration has recovered over 2,000 logs. A carefully nurtured forest has been lost primarily because the villagers who once protected it dearly felt that the process of redistribution of the land was affecting them adversely.
