Over 79,000 girls get benefit of Ladli Laxmi

Indore: Launched by the Madhya Pradesh Government with the objective of making the birth of a girl child a happy moment, a total of 79,726 girls have benefited under the Ladli Laxmi Yojana in Indore division so far. This included 20,934 girls in Indore district, 16,824 in Dhar, 6,507 in Jhabua, 8,933 in Khargone, 8,572 in Barwani, 9,231 in Khandwa, 4,909 in Alirajpur, 3,816 in Burhanpur. As many as 10,670 girls had been benefited this year in Indore division under the scheme wherein a savings certificate is opened in the name of the girl on birth that matures to over Rs one lakh when they turn 21 years. The benefit of Ladli Laxmi is provided to the first daughter in a family without the condition of family planning. However, the condition of family planning will continue after second birth. Besides, families with domicile of this district who do not pay income tax and had adopted family planning after second child will be given benefit on birth of girl after January 1, 2006. Likewise, if a girl has been adopted, the benefit of Ladli Laxmi will be given considering her as the first child.
