Over AKz 500 million spent on anti-poverty programme

Teresa Quivienguele announced this Wednesday at a meeting of the National Commission for Monitoring the Integrated Programme for Local Development and Combat Poverty (PIDCLCP). The official said that the amount will be provided on yearly basis to launch actions aimed at reducing the poverty rate of Angolans, from the current 36.6 percent to 25 percent by 2022, accounted for 3 million people. The money will cover sectors like Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Hydraulics and Engineering, Infrastructure, social facilities for schools, health centers and integrated child center, Water and Sanitation, Citizenship, Culture, Sports, Tourism, among others. In order to ensure the functioning of programmes, the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion (Masfamu) held a meeting aimed to set up monitoring teams. The teams will be tasked, as from October 22, with making the projects in the municipalities a reality. The plan comprises five teams distributed among the country's 18 provinces subdivided into five regions: They are: (North I) covers Cabinda, Zaire, Uige and Malange, (North II) Cuanza Norte, Bengo and Luanda (Centre) Cuanza Sul, Benguela, Huambo and Bié. The southern region comprises the provinces of Namibe, Huíla, Cunene and Cuando Cubango (East) Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul and Moxico.
