Under the Bundelkhand Package, so far, an amount of Rs. 522 crore 22 lakh has been spent out of total Rs. 966.51 crore received as additional central assistance. This is 54 percent of the allocation. Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of Government of India, M.S. Ahluwalia took the stock of the works being carried out on the spot and lauded the progress of the works.
Describing the reports that only ten percent amount has been utilized out of the funds received under the Bundelkhand Package as misleading and it has been stated authoritatively that the aforesaid reports are not true. It may be mentioned that the State Government not only chalked out a plan of the works but also carried out them in an effective manner despite allotment of funds at different times instead of lump sum allotment. It may be further noted that an amount of Rs. 270 crore has been received in May 2011 alone through which works have already been started. Similarly, Rs. 100 crore have been received in the current month itself. Works will soon be started with this amount.
It may also be mentioned here that the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission has recently lauded the progress of the works being carried out by the Water Resources, Forest and Animal Husbandry Departments under the package, undertaking an inspection of these works.
In view of the above facts it will not be true to state that the State Government is not serious towards the implementation and utilization of funds on time under the package. On the contrary, the State Government is fully committed and serious towards implementing the Bundelkhand Package as well.
