The Chhattisgarh Government approved of a special package for development of the tribal dominated Bastar region. The package, worth several hundred crores, includes setting up of a university at Jagdalpur from the next academic session, introduction of 'ashrams' for primary education and upgrading health services besides pronouncing Bastar as the focal point of State tourism.
