MANIKGANJ: The Padma River has devoured homesteads and cropland on a vast tract of land in Ramkrishnapur Union of Harirampur upazila in the district. Kamal Hossain, Chairman of Ramkrishnapur Union told that about 200 houses including haat and bazaars of Ramkrishnapur, Darikandi and Jagannatpur have already been devoured by the erosion of the River Padma in the last fortnight. The homeless people have taken shelter along roadsides and in the houses of their relatives and neighbours.
