A senior BJP leader of Palamu, Parshuram Ojha has written to the Chief Minister Raghubar Das about the drinking water crisis in the district. The BJP leader has urged the Chief Minister to set up a team of officials to know the basic problem.
Ojha who is known here as 'Pani Ojha'. He is too concerned with water issue and has done significant work in the management of surface water. He has exhorted the CM to tone up the water pump delivery system where neither the mechanical side is doing the desired work nor the supply one is reaching out to the people here.
Sources said it was under his constant pressure that the drinking water and sanitation office here took down a JCB machine in the river bed of the Koyal and dug up a channel for water to be filtered and then for supply. Such channel serves the purpose temporarily but it is a short term measure.
Speaking to the Pioneer Ojha said ' I have already written to the DC K Srinivasan about the ways and means to tone up the supply in order to minimise the crisis of water here'. Ojha said he is awaiting DC's initiative in this regard. The BJP leader is against indiscriminate boring of tube well as he wants the underground water to be recharged first.
There is a departmental tube well close to the women's college in the town which has gone a total dry. BJP leader and ortho surgeon Rahul Agarwal on his own expenses installed a tube well under Chainpur block in Palamu. Town Daltonganj's ward number 16 Abadganj is a total dry zone.
