Panchayats: 521 announcements implemented

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the implementation of announcements regarding Panchayat and Rural Development Department at his residence here today. Out of 680 announcements, 521 have been completely implemented or are nearing completion. Rest of the announcements of continuous nature are under various stages of implementation. Those present at the meeting included Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni, Principal Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development IS Dani, Principal Secretary Finance Ashok Das and Chief Minister's secretary Anurag Jain. The meeting was informed that orders have been issued today itself to change the name of post of Panchayatkarmi to Gram Panchayat Secretary. Similarly, orders are being given today to give ex-gratia amount to the tune of Rs one lakh to next of kin of 22 Panchayat Secretaries who met with untimely death during the previous years. The meeting was also informed that the process of giving Rs 2200-3700 pay scale to Panchayat Secretaries would be completed within a week by Panchayat and Rural Development and Finance departments and orders would be issued soon. The Chief Minister directed that the implementation of three announcements about establishment of statues should be undertaken by Department of Culture within next two months positively. He said that he must be kept informed about implementation of various announcement and hurdles coming in their way and requisite guidance should be sought from him to ensure completion of these works. Chouhan also directed the officers to immediately implement 68 announcements made by him during the last two months. The meeting was informed that a majority of rest of announcements are related to Backward Region Grant Fund. Implementation of these schemes was pending so far due to unavailability of funds from this head. Now the funds have been provided and these works would be started soon. Besides, 21 announcements made by the Chief Minister about construction of reservoirs could not be implemented since after spot technical inspections and assessments they were not found viable.
