The subject committee of the Forest Department, Bangalore led by Shashil G Namoshi, in its report submitted to the government, has recommended use of 25% of the revenue accrued from forest resources in the Canara Circle, for afforestation purposes in the backdrop of the widespread destruction of forests in the area during the past 20-30 year period.
