Panel to chart out new transport policy

The Delhi Transport Minister, Ajay Maken, announced the constitution of a Delhi Transport Planning Group (DTPG) under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, to ensure speedy, well-coordinated and effective implementation of an action plan for the city's transport sector including major projects like a high capacity bus system and electronic trolley buses. Mr. Maken said the DTPG would have the Delhi Transport Minister, Chief Secretary, Shailja Chandra, the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, S. Regunathan, the Joint Secretary Department of Personnel and Training, O.P. Agarwal, Prof. Dinesh Mohan of IIT Delhi, and Director (RITES), B.I. Singhal, as its members. The Delhi Transport Commissioner would be the member-secretary.
