The Standing Committee of the MCD has now set up a sub-committee, headed by Leader of the House Satbir Singh, to look into the MCD's proposal of regularising all street vendors in the Capital. The MCD had earlier submitted a draft policy on the vendors to the Supreme Court which had sanctioned the same and allowed the civic body to go ahead with two pilot projects which would regularise street vendors at Sewa Nagar Market and CGO Complex, as well as sanitise the areas. This decision comes in the light of a National Policy on Urban Street Vendors which has also been notified by the Central Government.
