MINISTER of State Revenue Dr Rajendra Shingane on Monday promised in the State Legislative Assembly that those citizens in Pune, whose properties were affected during the 1961 Panshet flood, would be given property cards against their present properties within the three months. Congress MLA Chandrakant Chhajed had raised the issue in the Assembly. In 1961, over3,500families had lost homes after Panshet dam, located about 40 km from here, burst following heavy rains causing havoc in Pune. The affected families were later provided alternative lands. Later, the state government decided to give ownership of these properties to those people. However, despite persistent follow-up by these residents, the government had not kept the promise. In 2006, the district collector had issued orders to distribute property cards to these residents. Now, the minister promised to give property cards to these residents.
