Indian paper industry could become internationally competitive if import duty on raw materials was cut to 20 per cent and private companies were allowed to set up tree plantations on waste and idle land. This claim was made by senior officials of top paper companies like Ballarpur industries, Star paper mills, Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills and JK Paper at the 42nd annual general meeting of All India Paper Traders Conference hosted by the West Bengal Paper Traders Association.
